Yécora (in euskera Ekora or Iekora y officially Yécora/Iekora) is a litte village in the province of Álava (Bask County). It has a extension of 18,8 km² and an population of 350 people (2007). It is situated in the soud of Álava inside the popular wine zone called Rioja Alavesa, in the limit with Navarra and very close to the La Rioja province. It is composed by only one population nucleus that extends between two valleys in the base of the mountains of Cantabria and Codes. The Village limits to the north with Meano and Lapoblación (2 small villages from Navarra province), to the south with Oyón-Oion and to the West with Viñaspre and Lanciego-Lantziego. The main town in the region is Laguardia-Guardia, situated 15 km in west way, and the province capital is Vitoria situated at 50 km. La city of Logroño, is only at 13 km in the south.
Yécora has the title of Villa, it is raised on the feet of a very emblematic mountain of the region named Sleepy Lion, whose name is due to the similarity to the referred animal. |

El pueblo de Yécora mantiene las características de los municipios rurales riojanos con un casco urbano apretado con edificios de dos plantas, que apenas ha sido transformado con construcciones modernas. En el caso de Yécora abundan los edificios renacentistas. |

Yécora es un municipio rural con un peso todavía muy importante del sector agrario, que ocupa al 37% de la población activa. Se trata de un municipio dedicado principalmente al cultivo del viñedo un 37%. El cereal ocupa sólo el 20% de la superficie cultivada y se extiende por el sur del término municipal. |
